New rank pips? (images)

Before I joined this forum, I used to come here as a guest and just browse around. While I was doing this, I noticed there was no ranking system in place. So I did these. Tell me what you think.


Artist - Someone who draws, writes fanfics, etc.



Designer - Someone who makes graphics for the site. This can include signatures, pips (rank images), designs for the site.



Owner - Leader of the site.



Admin - Administrators of the site.

While I cannot see the images, as they are for admins only, I can still say that I pretty much am not one for such a suggestion.

I've traveled across the land, searching far and wide. On forums, at least. The common thing I've noticed is that such badges/pips/whatever typically lead to certain users being "above" others. To be quite honest, I dislike the idea of the post count being set in place. People typically tend to belittle the noobz, which is wrong, of course, and if we were to implement all these pips/badges, those who do not have any kind of special pip may be looked at as smaller users, and their voice not heard as much.

I've experienced this first-hand on a few forums. I doubt such a thing would happen with the given small amount of current users, but if the forum were to get bigger and bigger and reach a rather high amount, it could be a problem.

First, I am working on making it possible for everypony to see the links and pix in their comments and sigs. Please bear with me, as many times I am learning as I go.

I like the images that you have posted, Celestia. I may very well use them. But, I sort of agree with you, Rarity, about having a ranking system, for the reasons you stated above. I have not ruled out the possibility of a ranking system, if that is what many of the members here want, but it is not a high priory for right now, with so much more construction and upgrades that I have to do very soon.

I don't think that this website will ever become very large, at least not as large as everypony.com. The Pegasister websites, shown on this website's Home Page are also new, but are already larger then this website. However, I will do my best to see that everypony, noobs and all, can come here to have fun, and talk about My Little Pony, and whatever is on your mind.

BTW---The images and links on most of the sections and threads should now be visible. There will not be any links visible in the Forum Information sections. PM me if any sections are not functioning correctly, stating when and where the problems are.

A new ranking system has now been instituted and is on display under each member's name. However, the titles of the various levels are generic, and do not give an indication of the newer ranks or members as being any better or worse than the other ranks or members in the system. I am not even going to post the names of and the thresholds of the rank levels, you can just see them as you continue to post. As your post count increases, the rank names become few and far between. And because the rank names are generic, there is no need to run up your post count, expecting to see some sort of awesome rank name associated with your name, you will not find one. Any abuse of the rank system by anyone will result in your post count reset to zero.
